The Stack Index / Method

Method

A tool enters this index only where a named operator described using it in a working system, or where GTM Vault recommended it in an essay. Those two are never blended.

Inclusion

  1. One citation per episode where a named operator described the tool in a working system.
  2. Mentions in passing, sponsor reads, guest biographies and podcast player links are discarded.
  3. Products belonging to the guest's own company are excluded from every recommendation and listed separately below.
  4. Tools are placed by the function they performed, not by the category their marketing claims.
  5. Budget is a posture, not a price. Public pricing in this category is unreliable, so no dollar figures appear anywhere.
  6. An operator who has appeared on the show may add to their own page afterwards. Those entries carry the month they were confirmed to GTM Vault in place of an episode number, and count as operator evidence because the operator stated them.
What cannot be bought. Placement here is not for sale. Sponsorship moves nothing into a layer and nothing up a list. There is no field in the data model for it, by design. Vendors are added when a named operator describes running the tool in a working system. Want in? Get a customer on Show Me Your Stack. Some tool pages carry a Visit link to the vendor; where GTM Vault has joined that vendor's partner programme the link is marked and may earn a commission on a purchase. Those links live in a separate file from the index data, so they cannot touch placement, order or counts. GTM engineers can also submit a stack for review; approved submissions carry their own grade and never change an operator count. Logos are shown for recognition only and change nothing about order.

Appeared as a guest, not as a recommendation

43 products named because their founder was the guest. An appearance is not an endorsement.

Data and citation

The whole index is downloadable as JSON or CSV, one row per citation, under CC BY 4.0: use it freely, name GTM Vault as the source. A plain-text map for language models is at /stack/llms.txt, and the terms the index is placed against are defined in the glossary.

Cite as: GTM Vault, The Stack Index, https://pro.gtmvault.co/stack, updated 20 Oct 2026. Every tool and layer page carries its own updated date, which is the date of the latest episode citing it.
